When The Sopranos were still on the air, when I could, I’d watch it with my mother every Sunday. The theme song of the show always made her groove out a little.

This song doesn’t remind me of my father because he knows how to “take it easy.” It’s quite the opposite–I don’t thing that man could take it easy even if he was in a coma.
This song reminds me of my Pops because several years ago, he asked me several times who sang “the song that goes, ‘take it eeeeaaasy, take it eeeeaaasy…’.” Since I’ve never had a single Eagles mp3 on my computer, even to this day, I had to use some Google-Fu on that one.

An ex turned me on to Modest Mouse, but I don’t hold it against the band. When I hear this song, I remember he’s the one that turned me on to it and that I’m pretty lucky to have that arrogant narcissist out of my life…and then I enjoy the song without giving that guy a second thought.

I have several “favorite” bands and there’s no way I can choose just one. Just off of the top of my head, there’s Nirvana, Beat Happening, Pavement, Sonic Youth, Talking Heads, The Pixies and their solo projects (The Amps, The Breeders, Frank Black & The Catholics). I’ll go with The Breeders for this entry, in honor of Kim Deal’s All Wave/Lo-Fi recording philosophy.
